Lynette teaches fiction at Cal State University Fullerton (CSUF),
and in private novel-writing workshops in her home. She also coaches
writers one-on-one, edits manuscripts, and speaks about the craft
of fiction at writers’ groups and a variety of other organizations.
CSUF: Developing Your Story
(Fullerton campus, Tuesdays, October 3 - December 12, 2006, from 7-10
p.m.)
Students learn ways to structure their novels or
short stories to make the most of their ideas and creative talents,
while retaining the originality of their unique voices. Each class
begins with a lecture and discussion about aspects of craft, including
effective characterization, use of language, and storytelling techniques,
based on published work, followed by the workshopping of student writing.
By the end of the course, students will gain a clear sense of direction
for their novels or short fiction, and will have the necessary tools
to complete the first draft of a publishable book. For more information,

Private Workshops
A small group of students meets in Lynette’s home for three
hours once a week to work on enhancing their complete or partial novel
manuscripts. Writers who are interested in joining this advanced group
should submit three pages of their writing to her (pasted into an
e-mail). For more information, contact Lynette at
lyn@lynettebrasfield.com.
